The Adventure Thus Far...

We are a Christian family of 7 from Texas preparing to move to the heart of New York City. My husband runs a collegiate non-profit ministry and I am a homemaker and homeschool teacher to our 5 precious little boys. Although I'd be quite content to remain in suburbia forever, for the past year we have felt strongly called to relocate to the northeast, and to NYC in particular. Many among our friends and family think we're crazy. I'm both terrified and extremely excited at the same time. Our boys are very excited, and it looks like they will make the transition easily.

We've just returned in the past week from spending almost a month on the road. Nearly 2 weeks of that time was spent in Manhattan searching for an apartment. That was a daunting task, to say the least. It would have been hard enough with just Dh and I, but with 5 children in tow, one of which is a nursing infant, it was logistically very difficult. We were blessed, though, to find a great place, with more space than we were expecting to find. We thought bringing our kids along on our search was going to hurt our chances of finding something, since most couples in Manhattan have only 1 or maybe 2 children. However, God used our children to help us secure the perfect place for us. The landlord's broker and our kids immediately hit it off and she informed our broker that she was going to do what ever she could to push our application through even though another couple (who from every appearance was much more financially qualified) was viewing the apartment and filling out the application at the same time we were. We were planning on leaving NYC to return to TX on Saturday, and found out Friday afternoon that we got the apartment, so it was really down to the wire, but God is good!!!

We have renters moving into our TX house a full month before our lease begins in NYC, so that should be interesting, but hey, that's just part of the adventure, right? :)
