Our Thankfulness Tree
Remember the tree trunk and branches I posted a few days ago? No, it wasn't my pitiful attempt at a Christmas tree (very funny, Stefanie!), it is our thankfulness tree! I had heard of doing this before, but had never gotten around to actually doing it. I traced the boys' hands on fall-colored construction paper, then cut them out. I had Joshua and Jonathan cut out their own. Today we sat at the table with steamy cups of spiced cider and talked about what we were thankful for. I wrote their answers on their handprints and we taped them to the tree. It was fun to do, and it was really fun for me to hear what they were thankful for...many of the answers I was expecting, such as different family members, friends, toys, etc. But we also had a couple of doormen make it onto the tree, as well as the president and the subway system. Gotta love how kids think! Anyway, here is a picture of our tree:

Neat idea!! I can't really tell what they say though. Um, which one is it that has MY name on it? I'm not really making it out on my own. I bet the child with the nub for a middle finger is NOT very thankful about that. Hee hee! Sooo, what'd ya get for your birthday?
What a beautiful idea! If I were there I would make my handprint and say I'm thankful for your blog! I love keeping up with you and Stefanie and your families!!

Stefanie, unfortunately you didn't make the tree...you'll have to live vicariously through your kiddos...they're on it! :) Sorry, but apparently you just can't compete with Nick, Jack, and Cade. And apparently the president and the subway. Oh, well, I'M thankful for you! And to head off future questions of similar nature--all grandparents were listed, as well as Uncle Chris (but HE visited us, which was, of course, a big hit!)
What a neat thing to do. I'm sure the boys loved coming up with thankful ideas. I'm honored I made the tree. I am so thankful for all my little boys and their parents, and of course, my big boy.
